Mechanical devices used to control pressure and flow in fluids in a system are called valves. Generally called regulators in the industry, these valves have a wide range of applications wherever fluids are involved. They control the flow of fluids like gases, liquids and slurries.
Valves are found in various kinds of sizes, designs depending on the process or operation. There are different types of valves classified on different parameters such as the control mechanism or valve function.
The three most widely used valve functions are:
- Stop and Start Flow
- Throttle (Control) Flow
- Non-return check for flow (Check)
